Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Class A Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain diesel trucks and related equipment. You will perform diagnostics, road tests, and preventive maintenance in a hands-on shop environment.

Applicants must have 5+ years of verified experience, a valid Driver’s License with a clean record, and the ability to lift 100+ pounds. You will use basic computer skills for billing and must own your own tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot components of trucks and body, including hydraulic systems, electrical, HVAC, brakes, engine.
• Perform preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment including oil changes, lubrication, and component replacements.
• Replace alternator, starter, water pump, and auxiliary equipment.
• Conduct road tests to verify repairs and isolate problems.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and facility grounds.
• Input repair data into fleet management system in a timely manner.
• Complete warranty repairs and diagnostics as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Follow instructions to complete daily tasks and repair orders.
• Communicate effectively to ensure accurate billing and service notes.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of all components of the truck/body including hydraulic systems, PTO’s, electrical, HVAC, brake, engine, suspension and mechanical portions.
• Clean and maintain assigned work areas, including common shop areas and facility grounds, e.g., maintain recyclables, address fluid spills, and organize bulk storage of tires and barrels.
• Dispense vehicle fuels and other essential fluids.
• Complete required forms and input required information into the fleet management information system in a timely manner.
• Perform road tests on trucks to assist with problem isolation or to verify repairs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment, including but not limited to: lubrication and oil changes; seat repair; brake, wheel, tire, and battery services; belt, hose, headlight, and basic component replacement.
• Perform basic to intermediate skill-level repair work on diesel trucks and equipment, including but not limited to the alternator, starter, water pump replacement, and auxiliary equipment installation.
• Perform intermediate to advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis of mechanical/electrical problems.
• Perform warranty repairs and diagnostics.
• Comply with all safety regulations, policies and local, state and federal regulations.
