Job summary

Performance Food Group (PFG) is hiring CDL-A delivery drivers to service customers across intrastate and interstate routes. You will drive tractor-trailer or straight truck, deliver and unload food products, and interact professionally with customers. Required: 21+ years, valid CDL-A, 12 months driving, clean MVR, and DOT health card.

The role involves overnight and early-morning shifts, safety checks, and strict compliance with DOT regulations; benefits and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Valid CDL-A.
• 12 months commercial driving experience.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to lift and handle freight of varying size/weight.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip safety checks and inspections per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT regulations and safety guidelines; report hazards.
• Inspect and secure freight; verify invoices and complete paperwork.
• Ensure secure loading and handling; manage unloading and returns.
• Maintain daily logs and hours-of-service compliance.
• Uphold safety standards throughout the delivery process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Position Details:

• Average yearly income, $80,000+ per year, Quarterly Safety Bonus opportunities
• 5-day work week Monday thru Saturday, No Sundays, days off will vary - must be flexible
• Possibility of team routes / overnight (layovers) on certain routes
• Dispatch range 12 AM to 5 AM; 10 hours shifts on average; all ramp work
• $10,000 Sign on Bonus for verifiable one-year foodservice or beverage delivery experience. Any person who has worked for a Performance Food Group (PFG) owned company within the last 6 months is not eligible to receive this incentive.

Position Purpose:

Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers' products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company - building lasting relationships with our customers! The CDL-A Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Major Functional Responsibilities

• Perform all required safety check (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately report any and all safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight. Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
• Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times. Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork and procedures at end of shift. Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Complies with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements, adhering to DOT, state, and company policies.
• Upholds overall safety standards and follows guidelines for the proper handling of freight throughout the delivery process
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Education:

Work Experience:

• Must be 21+ years of age
• Valid CDL-A
• 12 months commercial driving
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location

Preferred qualifications:

• One Year Touch Freight Delivery experience
