Job summary

US Foods in Springfield, IL is hiring a CDL A Delivery Driver to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering products safely, unloading at customer locations, verifying deliveries, and maintaining excellent service standards.

Starting pay is $32.23 per hour with probationary increases to $34.73 per hour; top performers can earn up to $85K–$95K annually. Street schedules typically include morning shifts with early starts.

Qualifications

• Must register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have valid CDL Class A with endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Minimum 6 months of commercial driving experience (any industry) or 3 months in food/beverage delivery.
• Manual transmission experience preferred; may be required in specific locations.
• Must read and communicate in English and understand highway signs and reports.

• Safe Driving: Deliver products to customers in a timely and safe manner.
• Unloading: Use a two-wheeler, ramp, or by hand to unload; 100% touch freight.
• Delivery Verification: Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures.
• Customer Service: Provide professional service to enhance customer experience.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections for safety.
• Account Management: Handle collections and payments when applicable.
• Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

CDL A Delivery Driver – Position Overview

You’ll safely navigate the highway and city streets, back into tight docks, and unload with precision.The CDL A Delivery Driver role goes beyond simply transporting goods - it’s about perfecting the craft of delivery, earning trust mile by mile, and serving as a vital link to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Driving: Deliver products to our customers in a timely and safe manner.
• Unloading: Skillfully unload products efficiently using a two-wheeler, ramp, or by hand, placing them in the designated storage areas – 100% touch freight.
• Delivery Verification: Verify deliveries with customers & secure signatures.
• Customer Service: Provide professional service to enhance customer experience.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct pre- & post-trip inspections to uphold safety standards.
• Account Management: Handle collections and payments when applicable.
• Adaptability: All other duties assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

• Lift/carry/push/pull/lower 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required.
• Driving & working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required.
• Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment as low as 0 degrees.
• Continuously grasp objects & manipulate objects. Frequently sit, stand, walk, drive, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel/bend, bend, reach above shoulder, twist, and use manual dexterity.

Qualifications

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Minimum6-months commercial driving experience (any industry) OR3-months commercial driving experience in the foodand/or beverage delivery industryrequired.
• Ability tooperatemanual transmission preferred; may berequiredin specific locations.
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $32.23 and $34.73
