Job Summary / Objective

Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Truck Driver position is responsible for transporting materials to and from locations within the Goodwill of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas locations. This includes dropping and transporting trailers (double drops) at the locations.

Essential Functions

• Transporting materials between ROC (Goodwill Outlet) and retail or donation locations per assigned schedule.
• Dropping and transporting trailers (double drops) at the locations.
• Expediting the movement of materials for donation drives or special events
• Assuming accountability for the security of merchandise while in their possession
• Performing daily pre-trip & post-trip inspections of vehicles.
• Operating and maintaining the tractor-trailer in accordance with Federal and state DOT laws and traffic regulations.
• Following DOT procedures relating to accidents, property damage, drug testing and loading / unloading.
• Maintaining a working knowledge of DOT laws and regulations pertaining to safety and compliance.
• Performing duties according to safety expectations and procedures.
• Sharing responsibility for the safety and security of the tractors and trailers.
• Communicating safety and maintenance issues and concerns to ensure quick resolution.
• All other duties assigned.

This job operates in a transportation and warehouse environment across multiple locations.

Physical Demand

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must have the ability to communicate verbally and apply active listening skills and bend, squat, crawl, climb, reach, and stand as necessary. This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull medium weight up to 50 pounds. Requires activities involving, being around moving machinery, exposure to marked change in temperature and humidity and exposure to dust.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work / Travel

• This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours vary based on shifts and schedules.
• Hours are generally within Monday through Sunday 7 : 30am to 5 : 30pm; however weekends and some holidays may be required.
• Flexible schedules such as 4 day / 10 hours and or PT may be available.
• Daily travel is required as assigned by the schedule across the Goodwill MoKan region which includes two states (MO and KS) and multiple retail locations across Kansas City metropolitan region, as well as Manhattan, KS, Topeka, KS, and Pittsburg, KS.
• This role starts and ends daily at the Goodwill Outlet location (ROC) on 1800 N. Corrington Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64120.

Qualifications

The Truck Driver will be a proven leader with the following :

• Age 21 or older.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a Valid Driver's License with good driving record.
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid Class A CDL license.
• 2-year Class A CDL driving experience is preferred.
• Ability to pass and maintain a Motor Vehicle Records search.
• Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical exam and drug screen.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and regulations.
• Knowledge of safety and security issues surrounding the operation and maintenance of tractor-trailers.
• Ability to operate the vehicle safely in inclement weather.
• Prompt and reliable attendance.
• Ability to work a flexible assignment schedule.
