Rueter’s, a long-standing equipment dealer serving Iowa and Nebraska, seeks a Truck Driver to transport agricultural and construction equipment using tractor-trailers. The role involves frequent long-distance driving, load securement, and maintaining detailed trip logs while ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer to pick up and deliver equipment, sometimes on multi-state routes.
• Load and unload cargo and secure freight.
• Keep trip logs and report incidents to dispatch.
• Drive long distances primarily within Iowa and surrounding states.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report mechanical issues.
• Plan routes and ensure timely deliveries to clients.
• Provide a positive customer experience and comply with safety regulations.

Job Title:

Truck Driver

Reports to:

Service Manager

Job Summary:

Responsible for transporting primarily ag and construction equipment, with many loads being oversize/overweight, using tractor-trailer trucks with a GVWR over 26001 lbs.

Essential Duties:

• Pick up and deliver equipment while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states
• Load and unload cargo
• Keep a log of trips and activities such as amount and type of cargo being delivered
• Drive long distances, primarily in Iowa and surrounding states
• Keep truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order, fill up on fuel
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
• Follow all applicable traffic laws
• Inspect trailer before and after the trip, and record any defects found
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
• Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking
• Get equipment to client on time
• Take special precautions while driving
• Be willing to perform other duties during downtime
• Provide a positive customer experience

Competencies:

• Must have valid Class A CDL
• Must have a clean driving record
• Must have knowledge of and comply with FMCSA rules and regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, and inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Must have a physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle as demonstrated by a current medical examiner`s certificate
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and pass Clearinghouse query
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Team oriented with positive attitude, good communication skills, desire to provide excellent customer service
• Previous experience with farming implements and construction equipment is preferred
• Knowledge of machines securement rules and regulations is helpful but will train the right individual.
• Paper logs - no ELD

Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as necessary. Home most nights. With very occasional overnight travel.
