ALLEN DISTRIBUTION is seeking a Class A CDL Driver - Shuttle Driver for a full-time role in Michigan. You will drive a dedicated truck on shuttle routes with load pay averaging $27.00/hour.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a Class A CDL with valid credentials.
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements for Class 8 vehicles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with shippers and consignees.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and endure long periods in/out of cabs.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to DOT regulations and company policies 100% of the time.
• Communicate issues to Dispatch promptly and clearly.
• Read and follow dispatch work instructions and e-logs.
• Plan efficient routes using regional knowledge and maps.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and report findings.

Position Competency:

1. Ability to maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
2. Willingness to drive a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes.
3. A solid knowledge of all safety and regulatory requirements of operating a Class 8, commercial vehicle.
4. Ability to work and communicate effectively with Shippers and Consignees, so that they believe, that they are our most important customer.
5. Must be able to lift 50lbs, climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers sit or stand for long periods of time.

Role Expectations

Safety and Compliance:

1. A solid knowledge of DOT regulations and the ability to abide by such regulations 100% of the time
2. Ability to understand and follow Allen Distribution policies and procedures 100% of the time.
3. Reports immediately to Dispatch any unsafe acts or equipment that may cause injury or damage to others.

Customers:

1. Communicate effectively with customers as required.
2. Able to resolve issues promptly and/or request assistance from Dispatch Operations.

Fleet Operations:

1. Ability to read and understand work instructions from dispatch.
2. Ability to work and understand electronic communication including but not limited to in cab communication and e-logs.
3. Understand regional geography, reading maps, following directions and making effective and efficient travel route decisions.

Maintenance:

1. Ability to perform an effective pre or post trip inspections, communicate findings to Dispatch or Maintenance teams for effective resolution.

Quality:

1. Ensure assigned loads are picked up and delivered as scheduled.
2. Ability to communicate immediately to Dispatch scheduled delivery time is at risk.
3. Ability to communicate any service non-conformance to Dispatch.

Initiative:

1. Communicates with Dispatch when loads are complete and ready for next assignment
2. Communicates with Dispatch prior to end of day, if anything else is required
3. Stays on scheduled throughout the day, taking required breaks but no excessive breaks or time from scheduled travel.
4. Communicates their recommendations for improvements in all areas of responsibility
