Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Class A Route Driver in St. Louis, MO. The role involves safe transport, loading/unloading of gas cylinders, and maintaining meticulous documentation.

You will operate forklifts and adhere to HazMat safety protocols while engaging with customers and ensuring timely deliveries. The ideal candidate has a valid Class A CDL, HazMat endorsement (or ability to obtain within 60 days), and at least 1 year of recent commercial driving experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class A CDL.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification required.
• Ability to lift 25–75 lbs, and occasionally 76+ lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
• Flexible to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class A/B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods.
• Collect empty cylinders and address inquiries for customer satisfaction.
• Record all transactions and obtain customer signatures.
• Handle loading and unloading of all materials.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and note issues.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent Airgas during deliveries.

Airgas is Hiring for a Class A Route Driver in ST LOUIS, MO.

We are looking for you!

• Forklift Training and Certification provided
• HazMat Required
• Monday - Friday, start time 7 am - Home Daily
• Benefits Eligibility: 30 days
• Possible weekends (on call)
• This is a Union Position

This role is responsible for the safe transportation, loading, and unloading of compressed gas cylinders between locations while maintaining meticulous documentation and vehicle safety inspections. You will professionally manage associate and customer relations, operate warehouse equipment like forklifts, and strictly adhere to all hazardous material safety protocols.

• Vehicle Operation: Operate a Class A and B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes.
• Customer Service: Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Documentation: Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Logistics: Handle the loading and unloading of all materials.
• Safety and Maintenance: Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, noting any issues to ensure full safety compliance and maintaining the vehicle's condition.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a representative of the company during all deliveries.

Required Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class A CDL..
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Must have the Hazmat Endorsement, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have at least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift or move around 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
• Flexible to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Forklift Experience
