Class A CDL OTR Team Driver
Overview
The Class A CDL OTR Team Driver is responsible for loading, transporting, and unloading materials from trailers and tanks to/from specified destinations. This position involves working as part of a driver team of two, operating a company-provided semi-tractor with a sleeper and tanker.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Drive and operate trucks for delivery across the United States.
- Unload tankers into storage bins at customer sites using onboard pumps.
- Load, unload, and count inventory before and after trips.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Follow directions from the Transportation Dispatcher.
- Maintain positive work relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and government agencies.
- Demonstrate honest and ethical work behavior aligned with APC business goals.
- Comply with APC inventory management procedures.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to regulatory compliance at all locations, customer sites, and during transit.
- Accurately complete and maintain paperwork as required by company policies, DOT, and other agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 21 years old as per DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of driving experience or completion of a CDL training program.
- Ability to acquire an ATF license to possess explosives.
- Meet all State & Federal explosive laws.
- Possess a valid Class A CDL with the following endorsements:
- Any combination over 26,001 pounds.
- Hazardous Material.
- X-Combination of Tank and Hazardous Material.
- Air Brake.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to perform basic math in all units of measure.
- Problem-solving skills for practical situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, product bulletins, and manuals.
- Ability to identify products by sight.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
Outside in various climates and terrains, exposure to dust, noise, oils, and debris. Must be able to sleep in the sleeper while the team driver is driving.
