Job description

Position: Driver / Operator

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Tampa, FL, US

Job Summary:
The Vacuum Truck Operator is responsible for delivering core services in areas such as emergency response, industrial and marine services, facility decontamination, and site remediation. This role requires strict adherence to company policies, health and safety protocols, and all local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Execute fieldwork related to remediation and industrial maintenance projects under supervision.
  2. Drive approximately 30% of the time, with the remainder spent working onsite as part of a team. Field Technician duties may be required based on business needs.
  3. Correctly complete job-specific paperwork, including timesheets, work reports, driver’s logs, vehicle inspections, and safety meeting forms.
  4. Ensure compliance with project scope-of-work, contracts, schedules, and corporate policies.
  5. Work safely during all job duties in the field.
  6. Perform work in confined spaces, requiring squatting and crawling for extended periods.
  7. Follow instructions, read and understand English, and recognize hazardous labels and safety plans.
  8. Safely operate and perform safety checks on vehicles, including Vacuum Trucks, Vacuum Trailers, Turbo-Vacs, Roll-Off Trucks, and Hydro Vacs.
  9. Be willing to travel out of town for projects, potentially for two weeks or more.
  10. Comply with company and client safety standards, with work conditions varying depending on the project.
  11. Work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and challenging environments, including exposure to hazardous chemicals, loud noises, and dangerous equipment.
  12. Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, crouching, using hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds or more.
  13. Must be clean-shaven at all times to ensure the proper seal of respirators.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills.
  2. 2-3 years of experience operating vacuum trucks or similar equipment.
  3. Additional experience in emergency response, manual labor, or industrial cleaning is preferred.
  4. A valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  5. Experience with construction equipment and heavy haul/end dump required.
  6. TWIC preferred.
  7. OSHA 40-HR HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry certifications are desired but not required.
  8. Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and substance screening, with ongoing verifications to ensure compliance with company standards.
