Class A CDL Driver – Flatbed Structural Steel

Virginia Steel & Fabrication, Inc.is seeking an experiencedClass A CDL Driverto join our team. This position is responsible for transporting fabricated structural steel, raw steel, and related materials to jobsites and customers.

We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused driver who is comfortable operating flatbed equipment and properly securing structural steel loads.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class A commercial vehicles pulling flatbed trailers
• Haul structural steel, beams, columns, plate, tubing, and other fabricated steel products
• Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other required equipment
• Inspect loads and verify securement before and during transportation
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Coordinate with shop and project personnel during loading and unloading
• Deliver materials safely and professionally to construction sites and customer locations
• Maintain required DOT logs, inspection records, and delivery documentation
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA, company, and jobsite safety requirements
• Assist with tarping and load preparation when required
• Maintain assigned truck and trailer in clean, safe operating condition

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL
• Current DOT medical card
• Acceptable motor vehicle record
• Experience operating tractor-trailer and flatbed equipment
• Structural steel, oversized load, or construction-material hauling experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of proper flatbed load securement, including chains and binders
• Ability to safely climb onto trailers and perform the physical duties associated with securing loads
• Ability to pass required drug and alcohol testing
• Dependable, professional, and safety-minded

Preferred Experience

Experience hauling structural steel, fabricated steel, beams, columns, miscellaneous metals, or other heavy construction materialsis highly desirable.

Drivers with experience delivering directly to active commercial and industrial construction sites are encouraged to apply.
