Job summary

Metro Group Inc. is seeking a dependable Class A CDL Driver with experience pulling doubles to transport scrap metal between customer locations and Metro Group facilities. Safety, reliable service, and positive customer interactions are central to this role.

Responsibilities include safe operation of doubles, trailer connections, load securement, route planning, and maintaining accurate records. The position offers day shift, five days a week, with OT as needed and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with a doubles endorsement and clean driving record.
• Minimum of five years of commercial driving experience.
• Experience pulling doubles and safe coupling/uncoupling.
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hours-of-service, air brake systems, and load securement.
• Ability to strap and secure loads and tarps as required.
• Strong safety awareness and good judgment for operating heavy vehicles.
• Physical ability to perform required duties and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tractor-trailer with doubles, obeying laws and procedures and adjusting for length, road conditions, and weather.
• Connect and disconnect trailers; verify coupling, air lines, electrical connections, landing gear, and safety devices.
• Secure loads with tarps when required and check securement during transit.
• Monitor weight distribution and coordinate with loading personnel to stay within limits.
• Inspect the tractor and trailers; perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report defects.
• Plan routes for doubles; assess access and traffic and use a spotter when needed.
• Coordinate pickups and deliveries with dispatch and loading teams.
• Provide WOW customer service; treat customers professionally and protect property.
• Maintain records and yard safety; complete tickets, logs, and PPE usage.
