Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Class A CDL Chick Delivery Driver to operate and maintain commercial hauling equipment, delivering live chicks from hatcheries to production sites. Home daily with a schedule that starts around 6 am and ends when loads are completed.

Safety is prioritized, and applicants must pass drug/alcohol checks. Benefits include health coverage after 60 days, paid time off, and a 401(k) match after one year. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and the ability to drive a manual CMV.

Qualifications

• Certifications & Licenses: valid Class A CDL with 12 months verifiable tractor/trailer experience within the previous 36 months.
• If the driver has a positive test for drugs or alcohol in the previous 5 years, they are not eligible.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Must be able to operate a manual CMV.

Responsibilities

• Conduct equipment inspections following company guidelines and report issues to the Supervisor.
• Operate trucks to maintain product quality and integrity.
• Communicate effectively with associates, maintenance staff, growers, and supervisors about farm conditions and other information.

• Place each load as directed.
• Follow the housekeeping schedule with proper PPE.
• Foster a positive work environment through cooperative communication and teamwork.

The Hatchery Chick Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of chicks from the company hatcheries , ensuring timely delivery. This role operates and maintains commercial hauling equipment, follows established delivery schedules, and upholds company standards for safety, quality, and reliability. The driver collaborates closely with hatchery personnel, live production teams, and farm staff to ensure accurate delivery , proper documentation, and effective communication. By adhering to transportation regulations, biosecurity protocols, and company policies, the Chick Driver plays a vital role in supporting operational continuity, bird health, and the overall success of Pilgrim’s supply chain.

What You’ll Need:

• Certifications & Licenses: applicants must have a valid Class A CDL with 12 months of verifiable tractor/trailer experience within the previous 36 months.

• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co-workers, ability to follow both written and verbal directions, appropriate skill to drive a truck safely, working knowledge of driving and traffic rules, good hand and eye coordination required.
