Job summary

Metzler Forest Products, LLC is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate tractor-trailers hauling logs, wood chips, and other forest products from various sites to delivery facilities. The role emphasizes safety, courtesy, and efficiency, with access to up-to-date trucks and equipment.

The position requires at least one year of over-the-road experience, a valid Class A CDL, a current DOT card, and a clean DMV record.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class A CDL driver’s license, current DOT physical examination card, and a clean DMV record.
• At least one year of over-the-road experience; log hauling experience is preferred.
• Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; subject to random drug testing as required by DOT.

Responsibilities

• Drives truck and trailer to haul logs, wood chips, or other forest products.
• Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle in heavy traffic, inclement weather, or tight loading/unloading areas.
• Abides by all Company, DOT, State and Federal transportation safety regulations.
• Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on truck and trailer.
• Performs pre-trip inspection of truck and checks operating condition daily.
• Must be able to operate equipment to load and unload trailers.
• Obtains and transfers load slips, shipping bill of lading and necessary paperwork.
• Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Requires high degree of attention and dexterity in control of tractor trailer and in preventing damage to materials and trailer equipment.
• Must communicate with supervisor and dispatcher about changing site conditions, routes, paperwork and restrictions.
• Uploads all necessary documentation into Samsara IAW the MFP Driver Upload SOP.
