As a CDL Driver, you'll safely deliver building materials to customer worksites while adhering to DOT and DMV regulations. You'll play a critical role in ensuring materials are transported securely, customers receive professional service, and vehicle maintenance and logistics operations run smoothly in all weather conditions and terrains.
Safe Delivery & Transportation
- Safely operate CDL-class commercial vehicles Safely operate CDL-class commercial vehicles while complying with DOT, DMV, and company regulations.
- Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions on jobsites, following signals from the loading crew as needed, and ensuring correct positioning.
- Secure cargo for transport Secure cargo for transport using wedges, straps, and other approved cargo-securing methods, ensuring safety when inspecting.
- Deliver materials accurately and efficiently Deliver materials accurately and efficiently to work sites, handling specialized offloading equipment like Moffetts and hydraulic lift gates.
- Exchange essential information Exchange essential information with supervisors or other drivers using hands-free cellphone communication while operating the vehicle.
- Drive to weigh stations Drive trucks to weigh stations along delivery routes to comply with state and local regulations.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including adding oil, fuel, and radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs, and inspect vehicle positioning.
Customer Service & Material Handling
- Practice and provide excellent service Practice and provide excellent service for all retail and contractor customers, including loading supplies for them.
- Load and unload trucks with a Moffett Load and unload trucks with a Moffett, help others with loading and unloading, operate powered equipment on vehicles, and use other equipment as necessary.
- Sort, stock, and move lumber Sort, stock, and move lumber and building materials in all types of weather and terrain.
- Review and fulfill special orders Review and fulfill special orders, invoices, loading sheets, and work instructions from salespeople and supervisors.
- Execute jobsite material returns Execute jobsite material returns to bring lumber and products back to the store location.
- Carry loads manually Carry loads manually inside residences when required for customer service.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow and enforce all safety rules Follow and enforce all safety rules and policies as outlined by the DOT and communicated by Bliffert Lumber Management.
- Ensure hands-free communication Ensure hands-free communication at all times while operating company vehicles.
- Report accidents and injuries immediately Report any accidents, traffic violations, or workplace injuries immediately to the manager.
- Maintain transportation records Maintain all required transportation records and follow general housekeeping practices.

- Perform additional job responsibilities Perform additional job responsibilities as determined by the Manager to support store success.
Qualifications
- Licensing & Certification: Must possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and a current Federal Medical (Fed Med) Card.
- Equipment Operation: Experience operating a Moffett forklift, hydraulic lift gates, and other powered equipment on vehicles safely.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read product labels, warnings, directions, work schedules, invoices, loading sheets, and orders; ability to complete inventory sheets and enter numerical details in loading sheets.
- Physical Ability: Able to sort, stock, move, and carry heavy lumber and building materials in all weather conditions and terrain, including carrying loads manually inside residences when required; look in charts for the weights forklifts can carry/lift.
