Qualifications

• Doctorate in clarinet performance (ABD candidates may be considered) or commensurate professional experience.
• Outstanding performance skills as soloist and chamber musician.
• Successful college teaching experience.
• Ability to teach and collaborate within Woodwind Pedagogy.
• Ability to teach clarinet techniques for music education majors, Music Theory, or general education survey courses of varying genres.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain high-quality applied clarinet students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Pursue scholarly and creative activity that meets CMU standards for tenure and promotion.
• Teach courses in clarinet techniques, coach chamber ensembles, clarinet repertoire, and other courses relevant to qualifications.
• Perform with the faculty Woodwind Quintet, the Powers Quintet.
• Serve on departmental, collegiate, and professional committees.
• Additional duties may be assigned in accordance with areas of expertise and in consultation with the Director of the School of Music.
