Responsibilities
  • Provide dementia care, including ADLs, engagement, and communication, respecting dignity and promoting independence.
  • Assist residents with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers, encouraging independence.
  • Participate in behavioral and care plan discussions.
  • Know residents’ histories, preferences, and routines.
  • Serve and possibly prepare meals, encouraging proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Lead engagement programs and promote socialization.
  • Maintain accurate resident records and report changes.
  • Assist with medication following legal and safety guidelines where permitted.
  • Ensure a safe, clean environment and respond to emergencies promptly.
  • Monitor residents’ location and well-being, report issues immediately.
  • Foster teamwork and cooperative interactions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; 3-6 months experience preferred, especially in dementia care.
  • Knowledge of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s.
  • State certification may be required and must be maintained.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks.
  • Interact with residents, co-workers, and vendors, including occasional evening, weekend, or on-call work.
  • Exposure to biological hazards and potential injury risks.
