Base pay will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience. Role is also eligible for team-based bonus opportunities. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides dementia care including adapted ADLs, meaningful engagement, and communication to residents following a person-centered individual service plan. Treats residents with respect and dignity, recognizes individual needs, and encourages independence.
  • Assists residents and provides input regarding the care plan and daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and facilitating participation in programs and meals, encouraging independence.
  • Participates in team behavioral expression meetings or discussions with community leadership.
  • Knows residents’ life stories, preferences, routines, and interests.
  • Serves meals, may assist in meal preparation following dementia-friendly menus, and encourages proper diet and fluid intake.
  • Initiates or leads daily engagement programs based on residents’ interests and encourages socialization.
  • Maintains residents’ records daily, documenting medication, engagement, incidents, and health changes.
  • May assist with medication administration as permitted by state regulations, following physician orders and policies.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment, performing housekeeping duties as scheduled.
  • Responds promptly to emergency situations and resident requests.
  • Monitors resident locations and reports if a resident is unaccounted for.
  • Encourages teamwork and cooperative interactions with co-workers.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED, with 3-6 months related experience or training in dementia care preferred. Knowledge of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s, is required.

Certifications and Licenses

May need current state certification per state law to assist with medications and care duties.

  • Standing, walking, sitting
  • Use of hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, chemicals, biological hazards, and potential injury risks
  • Occasional travel, weekend/evening shifts, on-call duties

Decision-Making and Skills

Makes routine decisions based on detailed guidelines; problems are generally solved with clear instructions or supervisor input. Requires basic skills to follow instructions, read and write simple communications, and communicate effectively in English.
