Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Clamp Truck Operator for 2nd shift to move and manage materials across the facility, supporting corrugator and forming lines, and ensuring accurate tagging and documentation.

You will perform forklift duties, maintain safety standards, and help maintain steady WIP and packing supplies.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of material handling experience with a powered forklift/CLAMP truck.
• Ability to convert basic math, fractions to decimal, square feet, etc.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Great organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to carry out data entry work.

Responsibilities

• Capable of safely operating a powered industrial forklift and clamp forklift.
• Perform all required forklift checklists.
• Follow all safety procedures and promote safety throughout the facility.
• Remove completed product from converting equipment and transfer to storage areas.
• Supply Corrugator and Forming machine with raw material.
• Inspect product for tags and accurate material identification.
• Scan product and place finished product in the bin location.
• Transport product to the staging area.
• Verify truck conditions and safety before loading trucks.
• Read and interpret all product load tags.
• Minimize product damage through safe handling.
• Inspect finished product for packaging quality.
• Ensure all paperwork and system transactions are completed timely and accurately.
• Accurately weigh and submit daily scrap reports.

SUMMARY

The Material Handler is responsible for handling and moving all products as needed for the facility by performing the following key responsibilities.

How you will impact WestRock:

• Capable of safely and efficiently operating a powered industrial forklift and clamp forklift
• Perform all required forklift checklists.
• Follow all safety procedures and promote safety & safety programs throughout the facility. Support all converting and in-line equipment to ensure accurate, steady supply of WIP and packing supplies.
• Remove completed product from all converting equipment and transfer to designated storage areas.
• Supply Corrugator and Forming machine with raw material.
• Inspect product to ensure tags are in place and accurately identify the material.
• Scan product and place finished product in the bin location.
• Transport product to the staging area
• Verify truck conditions and safety measures are in place prior to loading trucks.
• Load scrap in bays or truck.
• Read, interpret, and understand all product load tags.
• Minimize product damage through safe and careful handling.
• Inspect finished product to ensure quality packaging specifications are met.
• Ensure all paperwork and system transactions are completed timely and accurately.
• Accurately weigh and thoroughly fill out daily scrap reports and turn in to operator or supervisor prior to shift end.
• Maintain full compliance of all GMPs.
• Maintain housekeeping excellence in accordance with Plant guidelines.
• Participate and ensure department is compliant with YUM! /NFS audit regulations.

What you need to succeed:

• Preferred 3-5 recent years of material handling with a powered forklift/CLAMP truckexperience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to covert basic math, fractions to decimal, square foot, etc.
• Effective communication skills and excellent coordination skills.
• Great organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to carry out data entry work
• Basic computer knowledge. Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook.
