What is an Claims Supervisor, Florida NSA?
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Claims Supervisor, Florida NSA to lead a team of dedicated claims professionals. This is a unique opportunity to help construct and guide a team from the ground up, ensuring operational excellence and a superior customer experience within the complex Florida NSA environment. While deep Personal Injury Protection (PIP) expertise is essential, this role requires a broader understanding of all aspects of the Florida auto claims market, a passion for developing people, and a knack for identifying efficiency gains.
What Will You Do As a Claims Supervisor?:
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of claims personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. This includes selection, evaluation, performance management, and identifying and addressing skill gaps through targeted training, particularly in effective evaluation, negotiation, low impact strategies, and lawsuit handling.
- Operational Oversight & Excellence: Oversee all claims activities, ensuring strict adherence to established claims policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements specific to Florida, including Medicare compliance. Identify and assess internal trends for efficiency gains and process improvement, contributing to our tech-driven efficiency.
- Florida Market Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert with deep knowledge of Florida's unique legal and regulatory landscape, particularly concerning PIP, recent tort reforms (HB 837), and Assignment of Benefits (AOB) legislation. Apply a broad understanding of the Florida NSA market's nuances, including common claim types, fraud indicators, and customer pain points.
- Complex Claims & Litigation Management: Provide guidance and oversight for complex and high-value claims, including those involving significant litigation exposure. Work closely with the Legal Department on claims resolution strategies and leverage knowledge of strategies for attorney-represented and litigated injury claims.
- Fraud Prevention & Mitigation: Drive proactive anti-fraud measures within your team, leveraging your understanding of Florida's history of fraud and collaborating with SIU. Ensure claims personnel are adept at identifying inconsistencies, suspicious circumstances, and red flags.
- Customer Advocacy & Resolution: Handle customer complaints, providing appropriate solutions and alternatives, and ensuring timely follow-up for resolution. Champion a dignified, flexible, and transparent experience for NSA consumers.
- Data-Driven Insights & Reporting: Provide in-depth reporting on claims metrics and communicate results effectively to executive leadership, contributing to data-driven adaptation and continuous monitoring of claims data.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Recovery Units, SIU, Legal, and Product & Technology teams, to ensure alignment with company objectives and to develop strategies for mitigating risk and reducing claims costs.
- Technology & Process Optimization: Maintain knowledge of training materials, standard procedures, and shared partner guidelines, particularly those related to our claims automation, AI models, and technology integrations (e.g., Snapsheet, Mitchell). Support Clearcover quality assurance initiatives, leveraging tools like AutoQA where possible.
What Do You Need?
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree, or commensurate work experience.
- A minimum of 7-10 years experience in auto claims, with a strong emphasis on Florida PIP claims and a broad understanding of the FL NSA market.
- 3-5 years of prior leadership experience (e.g., as a team leader, supervisor or manager) with a proven track record of providing excellent customer care and managing performance.
- High exposure claim handling and litigation experience is a plus.
- Expert PIP Knowledge: Deep subject matter expertise in Florida Personal Injury Protection (PIP) evaluation, regulations, and legal principles. Expert knowledge and usage of Mitchell Decision Point systems specific to Florida handling.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex issues, identify internal trends for efficiency gains, and contribute to process improvement.
- Exceptional Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Empathetic, patient, and influential leader capable of motivating and developing a team. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with and help others.
- Communication Prowess: Capable of writing with impact and communicating complex information clearly and concisely to various audiences, including executive leadership.
- Customer Focus: Strong customer orientation with the ability to balance the needs of the customer with the needs of the business, adapting to different types of individuals, particularly the NSA consumer profile.
- Technological Fluency: Experience with claims-related technology for a national claims program; comfort with and enthusiasm for leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven insights to enhance claims operations.
- Licensing: Ability to obtain and maintain an adjuster’s license as required.
Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000 (Annual USD)
