Job summary

Admiral Insurance Group, a member of the W. R. Berkley Corporation, seeks a Claims Superintendent, Professional Liability to oversee high-exposure E&S professional liability claims and lead complex cases across Architects & Engineers, agents E&O, and related exposures.

You will supervise independent adjusters and counsel, ensure coverage is properly applied, maintain reserves, engage in mediations, and collaborate with internal teams to drive effective loss outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive commercial insurance claims handling experience.
  • Focus on Professional Liability lines of business.
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Present facts of claims, with recommendations, to committee as necessary on Professional Liability claims.
  • Incorporate all claims into company records and review for applicability of coverage.
  • Prepare large loss reports where applicable.
  • Attend and participate in mediations/trials as necessary.
  • Establish appropriate loss and expense reserves. Maintain valid loss and expense reserves based on current investigation and legal discovery.
  • Supervise activities of Independent Adjusters, investigators and defense attorneys to ensure that all claims are appropriately handled.
  • Adhere to company procedures and Best Practice guidelines as well as case and statutory law requirements when coverage is in question, and/or when paying or denying claims.
  • Comply with reporting requirements of treaty and facultative reinsurers.
  • Maintain current understanding of various unfair claim practices statutes.
  • Incorporate all claims into company records and review for applicability of coverage.
  • Participate in broker relations calls/visits as needed.
  • Attend industry related seminar workshops and/or courses for continuing education.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Claims Superintendent, Professional Liability will have primary responsibility for the handling and oversight of high‑exposure Professional Liability claims for an Excess and Surplus Lines carrier. This role will manage complex pending matters across a broad range of exposures, including Architects & Engineers, Insurance Agents E&O, and miscellaneous professional liability claims. The position requires close collaboration with defense counsel, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure effective claim outcomes, adherence to policy terms, and alignment with best practices for high‑severity loss management.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role includes: Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. Eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program. Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.
