Role:
We are looking for an experienced Management and Professional Liability Adjuster who is interested in joining a growing Excess and Surplus (E&S) Lines Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Directors and Officers (D&O), Errors and Omissions (E&O), Crime, Fiduciary, and related claims consisting of all levels of damages and complexity. File inventory will include litigated and non-litigated matters, and complex coverages. Other responsibilities include completing large loss claim notices, participating in department initiatives, working effectively with other departments, and contact with external customers which involves maintaining, developing and influencing relationships with customers and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage, investigate, evaluate, and negotiate Management and Professional Liability claims of all levels of complexity and litigation to a successful resolution.
- Claims include, but are not limited to, wrongful termination, wage and hour, crime, cyber, errors & omissions, and workplace violence.
- Draft clear, well-supported coverage position letters, including reservations of rights and denial letters.
- Assess liability, damages, and exposure, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with company guidelines.
- Managing vendors involved with claim files, i.e. Independent Adjusters, Defense Attorneys, and Coverage Counsel.
- Completing Large Loss notices as required.
- Negotiate settlements within authority and participate in mediations and settlement conferences as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely claim file documentation in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers regarding claim status and coverage positions.
- Partner with underwriting and risk management teams to provide feedback on emerging risks and policy wording improvements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in claims handling.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and other standard business tools to support documentation and reporting.
- Uphold a high level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of claims handling.
- Apply strong analytical skills and attention to detail when evaluating claims and coverage issues.
- Utilize sound judgment and problem-solving abilities to address complex claim scenarios.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with all stakeholders.
- Maintain a keen focus on accuracy and detail in claim file documentation and correspondence.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience handling Management and Professional Liability claims (e.g., EPL, D&O, E&O, Crime, Fiduciary)
- Demonstrated experience handling complex coverage determinations and litigated matters
- Strong knowledge of E&S lines preferred
