Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Claims Specialist to analyze, manage, and resolve insurance coverage and claims with low to moderate complexity. You will investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims to resolution, supporting management liability and specialty lines including E&O, D&O, and EPL.

Expect limited supervision and a role that informs partners on coverage questions and policy wording. The position emphasizes collaboration, customer service, and maintaining knowledge of applicable lines,

Qualifications

• College degree preferred; JD desired.
• 2–4 years of claims handling experience; prior defense counsel experience may be required.
• Licenses/registrations must be acquired within designated time period.
• Familiarity with various insurance policies a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to multi-task and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and evaluates coverage, liability and damages to set a claim strategy.
• Provides timely evaluation and reserves within approved authority.
• Analyzes coverage and develops resolution strategies.
• Provides feedback on claim trends to underwriters and counsel.
• Delivers excellent service to insured, agents and legal counsel.
• Keeps current on regulations, policy changes and trainings.
• Collaborates with teams to support business partners.
