Job Opportunity: Claims Specialist – SWE Maghreb Area (Based in Tunisia)

Location: Tunisia
Scope: Tunisia & Algeria (primary), Morocco (backup)

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Claims Specialist to join our Area Claims team in SWE - Maghreb Area. This role is pivotal in delivering a seamless customer experience by managing claims across Tunisia and Algeria, while also supporting Morocco as needed. You will be the primary point of contact for customer cargo claims and incident-related matters, ensuring timely, professional, and compliant handling of all cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle customer cargo claims and incident inquiries with professionalism and within agreed timelines (TAT KPIs).
  • Collect and review claim documentation, arrange cargo surveys, and ensure completeness for legal assessment by Global Claim Hubs.
  • Evaluate and escalate decisions where necessary, involving Regional Claims Manager and Commercial Management.
  • Communicate and negotiate settlements directly with direct customers.
  • Manage longstanding cargoes and support disposal/salvage processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local insurance representatives, surveyors, legal support, and authorities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Customer Experience, Sales, and Delivery Teams.
  • Facilitate recoveries from third parties and contribute to damage/loss prevention initiatives.
  • Guide customers and colleagues on claims processes and provide training where needed.
What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in handling insurance or logistics claims, ideally across multiple North African markets.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory frameworks in Tunisia and Algeria.
  • Fluency in French and Arabic; working proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with regional and global teams.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, especially in conflict resolution.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in shipping, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
  • Familiarity with local customs regulations and transport documentation.
