Job summary

FNIC is seeking a Claims Specialist to educate on claims and loss history and advocate for clients in commercial and personal lines. The role focuses on accurate processing, reporting to insurers, and maintaining confidential information with strong organizational skills.

You will handle loss run analyses, monitor large claims, respond to inquiries, and maintain electronic records while pursuing ongoing professional development in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Property & Casualty license or willingness to pursue.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and confidentiality.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and agency software.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and independently process and report claim information to insurers.
  • Obtain and analyze loss run reports from insurer for claim reviews.
  • Monitor status of large claims and notify manager for losses over thresholds.
  • Respond promptly to insureds, insurers, or claimants' questions.
  • Communicate with Claims Manager about significant requests or problems.
  • Maintain electronic account files and agency management system workflow.
  • Prioritize workload to meet objectives and seek help when needed.
  • Comply with quality program requirements and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality of PHI and sensitive information.
  • Pursue ongoing technical knowledge through educational opportunities.
  • Maintain regular attendance and participate in special projects.

Unfortunately, accidents, storms and damage are a part of our everyday life and when they affect our clients, there is no one better suited to handle these situations than our Claims Specialists. Claims Specialists serve a key part in both the commercial and personal client relationship. FNIC is seeking to add a Claims Specialist to our team to educate and inform on claims and loss history as well as advocating fully for their client.

What’s the work like?

You will...

  • Effectively and independently process and report claim information received to insurers
  • Obtain and analyze loss run reports from insurer for purpose of claim reviews
  • Closely monitor the status of large claims and suits and notify manager of all losses reserved in excess of $250,000 for commercial and $50,000 for personal, or any loss that has significant potential of developing into a sizable or questionable loss
  • Promptly respond to insureds’, insurers’ or claimants’ questions and/or requests for assistance
  • Communicate with Claims Manager regarding significant requests or problems and/or information not received
  • Maintain the electronic account file and fully incorporate the capabilities of the agency management system into daily workflow
  • Prioritize workload to consistently meet objectives and request assistance from management when necessary
  • Comply with requirements of quality programs
  • Follow agency and department procedures as outlined by management
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of highly sensitive information, including Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Maintain, develop, and pursue technical knowledge through newsletters, bulletins, seminars, trade publications or other educational opportunities
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance
  • Any other special projects and duties as assigned

Requirements
What do I need to know?

You have to have…

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Resident Property and Casualty Agent's license, or willingness to pursue
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel), and all agency automation software (Applied Epic preferred)
  • Proficiency in word processing and typing skills
  • Strong respect for confidentiality
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of commercial and/or personal insurance experience
