This position is responsible for evaluating and processing auto and general liability insurance claims from initial report through final resolution. The Claims Specialist will review documentation, investigate claim circumstances, determine coverage and liability, and support appropriate claim resolution. This role requires regular communication with claimants, insurance carriers, attorneys, adjusters, and other involved parties while maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring claims are handled in accordance with applicable regulations, legal requirements, and internal procedures.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and manage claims arising from auto and general liability losses.
• Utilize the Origami claims management system to enter, document, and track claims.
• Determine whether claims should be handled by an insurance carrier or maintained as record-only matters.
• Manage an active inventory of open claims and support timely resolution.
• Coordinate with outside counsel to ensure appropriate reserves are established and claims progress toward resolution.
• Maintain accurate claim files, including assessments, goals, barriers, activity, and claim cost summaries.
• Prepare and provide reports using Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS).
• Maintain an effective diary system and document claim activity within the claims management system.
• Communicate with claimants, insurance carriers, attorneys, and other involved parties to gather information and facilitate claim resolution.
• Assist third-party claimants and insurance carriers with establishing claims when contacted directly.
• Provide professional and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform administrative functions including filing, check requests, and payment and expense tracking.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of college education or specialized training in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
• Claims management experience.
• Experience investigating, evaluating, and negotiating claims.
• Knowledge of the claims settlement process.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
• Experience working with RMIS or claims management systems and generating reports.
• Working knowledge of financial reporting.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and open claims simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Insurance industry training or professional designations such as AIC, ARM, CPCU, or similar credentials.
• Experience with Origami or a comparable claims management platform.
