Job summary

Goodville Mutual Casualty Company is seeking an experienced claims professional to adjust and settle liability casualty claims with settlement authority up to $20,000. The role requires verifying coverage, investigating claims, and negotiating settlements in line with company guidelines.

The candidate should have 1–2 years of P&C claims experience, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work with company systems.

Qualifications

• High School education is required.
• 1–2 years of Property and Casualty claims experience required.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance coverages and terms preferred.
• Ability to learn the coverages of all insurance policies written by the company is required.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively with company computer systems is required.
• Willingness to participate in insurance-related study courses with the goal of attaining the AIC designation is preferred.
• Ability to travel to all organization offices (including PA, OH, and SD) and to vendor sites is required.
• Ability to perform duties in an office environment with a computer most of the time is required.
• Ability to move materials and work in the office environment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Handle claims according to company guidelines and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
• Verify policy coverage on assigned claims.
• Investigate and evaluate claims; negotiate for proper settlement.
• Assign independent adjusters, appraisers, and staff Field Claims Representatives when necessary.
• Pursue subrogation, salvage, and third-party liability contribution.
• Notify Claims Supervisor or Manager of all claims that exceed settlement authority of $20,000.
• Establish proper reserves on assigned claims.
• Report claim complaints, questionable claim submissions and possible fraud to Casualty Claims and SIU Supervisor or Manager.
• Attend claim seminars and participate in claim associations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
