The Position

Wilson Elser is seeking experienced attorneys with Claims Management & Coverage Counsel expertise to join our team. The role involves providing guidance on claims, coverage analysis, and risk management across various insurance lines. You will manage complex claims and disputes independently and develop strategies for resolution and settlement to mitigate legal exposure.

This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage claims from notification to resolution independently.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages for complex matters.
• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters.
• Monitor claims proactively and develop handling strategies.
• Coordinate with outside counsel to achieve resolutions.
• Prepare client reports with exposure analysis and reserves.
• Negotiate and participate in mediations to resolve claims.
• Collaborate with attorneys and partners on legal projects.
• Interface regularly with clients, carriers, and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3+ years of legal practice in insurance.
• Experience drafting coverage letters and opinions is a plus.
• Preferred experience in private practice.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong research and negotiation skills.
• Ability to interpret policies, assess risks, and offer strategic solutions.
• Strong organizational skills for high-volume caseload management.

Compensation is influenced by experience, education, location, and other factors. The role is full-time, eligible for benefits including a 401(k), medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. The pay range is $125,000—$175,000 USD.
