• Proven time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and establish/meet deadlines.

• Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Anchorage, AK.

Umialik Insurance Intern Program Summary:

Umialik Insurance provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands‑on opportunities and project work in partnership with our Claims teams; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

• Learn how to research and confirm coverage for all types of property and casualty claims
• Learn the importance of claim documentation and data reporting
• Learn how to properly investigate a claim using communication and listening skills, witness information, online research tools, medical records, and/or vendor services
• Learn how to use your investigation to assess compensability
• Learn to read, review, and pay estimates, medical bills, and vendor bills
• Learn how to set and modify reserves on a claim
• Learn the importance of working closely with underwriters, loss control, insureds, and agents to offer superior customer service
• Attend off site claims-related tasks and events (i.e., inspections, depositions, court appearances, and/or mediations) with adjusting team
• Shadow other positions within the company to learn more about careers within the insurance industry
• Assist with various projects as assigned

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $21.00/hour
