Summary
This position is with Rockville Risk Management Associates, a third-party administration arm of The RiverStone Group. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Reinsurance, this role is responsible for administrative client oversight on various accounts, including claims across different lines of reinsurance and systems. The candidate will learn claims-handling best practices and plans for direct handling of reinsurance, managing a portfolio that may involve higher exposure, severity, and complexity. Responsibilities include file documentation, payment processing, drafting market summaries, and handling claims issues such as coverage, liability, reserves, litigation, and strategic initiatives aligned with the company's vision.
Essential Functions
- Handle and monitor commercial and personal lines insurance claims, analyze coverage, establish reserves, and resolve claims.
- Review loss notices, interpret policies, and handle claims involving umbrella and excess policies.
- Manage litigation with counsel under approved fee arrangements and guidelines.
- Maximize risk transfer opportunities through contracts or insurance policies.
- Manage defense counsel, expert witnesses, and coordinate with peer carriers, including analysis of contracts, liability, damages, settlement negotiations, and drafting agreements.
- Ensure proper file setup, reserving, handling procedures, and compliance with company policies.
- Develop claims handling strategies, including defense coordination, litigation planning, and budget management.
- Maintain records of claims information and financial/statistical data.
- Maintain diary controls, analyze reserves, and report exposures to relevant parties.
- Handle a high volume of diverse claims effectively.
- Make decisions within scope and seek guidance when needed.
- Develop creative solutions to business problems and opportunities, taking calculated risks.
- Promote continuous improvement and technical development within the team.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external partners.
- Understand and manage Key Performance Indicators.
- Perform special projects and maintain confidentiality.
- Build and maintain professional relationships.
- Assist with Due Diligence inquiries and travel as required.
- Obtain and maintain claims adjuster licenses as needed.
- Mentor less experienced analysts and support departmental problem-solving.
