Job description

About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

Location Requirement

Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.

About the role:

We are seeking highly organized and customer-focused commercial Passenger Transportation Bodily Injury Claims Adjusters to join our team, handling claims for limousine, black car, and chauffeured fleets as well as motorcoaches, charter and tour buses, shuttle buses, and school and transit-style passenger buses. The successful candidate will speak with customers on the phone, educating and helping all parties work through their claim to the best possible outcome. You'll handle an inventory of injury claims, triage critical and multi-claimant losses, and deliver best-in-class service to everyone involved, from operators and drivers to passengers, claimants, and their representatives.

The ideal candidate is proactive, curious, forward-thinking, and highly motivated, someone who shows initiative and acts. We work cross-departmentally, so collaboration is a must. You can pivot with the best of them. We're looking for a “get-it-doner.”

Who you are
  • Highly self-motivated and growth-oriented. You're excited by the prospect of being part of a tech-driven claims org.
  • Passionate claim professional who cares about the customer and their experience.
  • Empathetic. You exercise empathy and patience with everyone you interact with, including injured passengers, shaken drivers, and operators facing a serious loss.
  • Proactive daily claims handling mentality with a consistent work-life balance.
  • Creative. You find the right exit ramp (pun intended) for resolving the claim in the client's best interest.
  • Conflict-enjoyer. Conflict does not have to be adversarial, but it must be CONVERSATIONAL, including with claimants and attorneys.
  • Curious. You investigate the whole story so you can make the right decisions early and move to a prompt resolution.
  • Claims maverick, challenging the traditional way claims are executed.
  • Communicative. Engaged. Active listener.
  • Claims collaborator. You work jointly with other departments to proactively resolve claims.
  • And did we mention you have a sense of humor? Claims are hard enough as it is.
What you'll do
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and high-quality service to all involved parties by initiating investigations, responding to inquiries, and resolving claims.
  • Gather necessary information from all parties to initiate the claim and explain policy, coverage, and the appropriate course of action.
  • Manage an inventory of bodily injury claims, establish initial reserves for all potential exposures, and adjust as appropriate throughout the life of the claim.
  • Investigate liability and evaluate injuries and damages, including obtaining and reviewing medical records, bills, and other supporting documentation, and managing multi-claimant passenger losses.
  • Communicate with involved parties and negotiate appropriate settlements with claimants, insureds, and attorneys within approved payment authority.
  • Oversee and direct outside investigative service providers and work closely with the client, client counsel, and defense counsel to resolve the claim, including litigated files.
  • Recognize recovery opportunities, including contribution and subrogation, and identify claims that require escalation.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to build knowledge of commercial passenger carrier claims, court decisions impacting the claims function, current claim guidelines, and policy changes and modifications.
  • Provide input for continuous improvement of claim guidelines and processes, best in class.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on commercial transportation bodily injury claims, ideally limousine, livery, motorcoach, charter, or other passenger carrier operations, with 7 years of overall claims handling from different lines of business.
  • Bachelor's degree (lack of one should not stop you from applying if you possess all the other qualifications).
  • Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license. Obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures, including familiarity with passenger carrier operations and coverage considerations.
  • Experience managing litigated files and working with defense counsel.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate claims data and make sound decisions based on established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Ability to complete accurate and timely coverage analysis.
Benefits
  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!
