Great American Insurance Group's member companies, subsidiaries of American Financial Group, are seeking a Claim Operations Supervisor to support our growing Claim Operations department in California. This is a fully remote, work-from-home position for candidates in the Pacific Time Zone.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily activities, procedures, and financial transactions of the California Claim Operations Team remotely.
- Assign, coordinate, and review work activities of associates.
- Monitor and control team quality, productivity, and workflow using management reports.
- Make recommendations to senior leadership based on observations.
- Enforce policies and procedures to support internal and external partners.
- Conduct audits and assess associate work as appropriate.
- Provide regular team status reports to leadership.
- Onboard new team members and ensure their success.
- Ensure employees are trained and adhere to current policies and procedures.
- Build system knowledge to instruct associates on workflows and systems like Microsoft Office, ClaimConnect, ClaimCenter, OpsNow, Maven, DocEx, Cognos, etc.
- Implement company programs and procedures, managing change effectively.
- Meet performance targets, support lower-performing associates, and manage schedules for business continuity.
- Hold regular meetings with team members to discuss results and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor shared mailboxes for volume, productivity, and accuracy.
- Evaluate talent, oversee performance management, and develop team members.
- Analyze reports for productivity and capacity, identify issues, and amend data as needed.
- Represent the organization positively to team members and partners.
- Display emotional intelligence and diplomacy in interactions.
- Escalate issues to leadership when necessary.
- Communicate policies and provide training as needed.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure team compliance with guidelines.
- Maintain professionalism and work independently with motivation.
- Perform other duties, possibly leading special projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of California workers' compensation claims experience, including 2+ years of management.
- Knowledge of California benefit notices and forms.
- Location within the Pacific Time Zone.
- Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
- Accuracy, speed, and ability to work with various contacts.
- Self-motivated and capable of working remotely.
This position is non-exempt in California and Washington.
Additional Details
Salary Range: $62,000 - $72,000.
