Overview
The Claim Adjuster I will complete required training and education activities to prepare for a career as a claim professional. They will assist in accordance with supervisor instructions and provide prompt, courteous, and fair claim service. Responsibilities
- Support the corporate strategy and commitment to the member relationship.
- Support the strategic mission of the Claims function related to organizational goals.
- Learn about and demonstrate the Guiding Principles in daily work.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the agency force and support agencies through effective claim management practices.
- Handle all claims ethically and in compliance with the Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act.
- Complete or be in progress to complete the KFB training plan and required Kentucky Farm Bureau courses.
- Review loss reports and confirm coverages.
- Conduct thorough investigations of losses.
- Maintain and document electronic claim files, reserves, and diaries.
- Complete assigned tasks promptly and evaluate claims for settlement or denial.
- Visit agency offices regularly.
- Actively pursue salvage recovery and assist subrogation and special investigative units.
- Report claims according to guidelines or as directed.
- Manage out-of-state claims and stay informed on policy contracts, court decisions, and industry trends.
- Ensure claims handling complies with statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Maintain ability to function as an adjuster trainee and serve as a catastrophe team member or assist in other locations as needed.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Other Responsibilities
- Promptly report complaints and receipt of summonses.
- Report incorrectly rated policies or poor risks to Underwriting with supervisor assistance.
- Submit expense and mileage reports timely and participate in meetings, seminars, and continuing education.
- Properly use company facilities, equipment, supplies, and vehicles, following guidelines for personal use.

- Physical demands include vision, hearing, sitting, standing, speaking, mobility, driving, and climbing ladders.
- Mental demands involve analytical reasoning and prolonged concentration.
- Environmental factors include office and outdoor conditions, site inspections of damaged property.
- Equipment used includes automobile, camera, computer, phone, and ladder.
Qualifications
- Combination of education, training, and experience generally equivalent to a four-year college degree; bachelor’s preferred.
- Ability to interpret policy contracts and legal documents.
- Strong communication skills, decision-making ability, negotiation, and public relations skills.
- Obtain Kentucky Staff Adjuster License within six months of employment.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
