Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Justice is seeking a Deputy Director to oversee the Education and Training Section within the Criminal Justice Standards Division. You will lead, supervise, and coordinate training programs and ensure compliance with Commission requirements across schools and agencies.

This role reports to the Division Director and involves strategic leadership, staff development, and inter-agency collaboration. Travel occasionally and background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Directs the daily operations of the Education and Training Section, establishes priorities, assigns responsibilities, and monitors the quality and timeliness of work.
• Supervises staff responsible for administering and monitoring Commission education and training programs.
• Establishes employee work plans, conducts performance reviews, and provides coaching, professional development, and corrective action as appropriate.
• Develops and maintains procedures that promote consistent decisions, accurate records, responsive service, and effective program administration.
• Assists the Director with recruitment, selection, onboarding, and development of Section personnel.
• Oversees the administration of Commission-approved basic, specialized, and mandatory in-service training programs within the Section's assigned responsibilities.
