Job summary

The City of Peoria seeks a Civilian Investigator to manage the registered sex offender program, ensuring compliance with Arizona registration laws for Peoria offenders. The role maintains offender records, verifies addresses and employment, investigates possible violations, and issues community notifications as required.

Reporting to a Police Sergeant, the position supports patrols and detectives, with field and office duties, and carries no arrest powers; it is a three-year grant-funded

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Solid administrative accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience in criminal investigations preferred.
• Familiarity with law enforcement databases is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Register and maintain program records, review information, and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain offender profiles with photos, addresses, notes, and supporting documents.
• Prepare summaries to support review of registration requirements and community notification decisions.
• Coordinate address and employment checks with patrol, detectives, and neighboring jurisdictions.
• Write reports and referrals when information suggests noncompliance or another crime.
