Zusammenfassung

The Black Hawk County Consolidated Communications Center is seeking a Communications Dispatcher to operate PBX, radio and telephone consoles to receive and dispatch emergency information and personnel. You will type forms, maintain call logs, and follow sheriff's office procedures under supervision of the Center's Director.

A high school diploma or GED is required. At least 6 months related experience is preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Typing speed at least 30 wpm with accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain NCIC/CJIS certification within 6 months.
• Complete CTAP and Iowa system certifications within 6 months.
• Residency within 30 minutes of Waterloo office within 6 months.

• Under general supervision; operates a variety of communication equipment in the dissemination of information to law enforcement/emergency medical personnel; performs related work as required.
• Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.
• Operates communication equipment (PBX system, radio and telephone console) to receive and dispatch emergency information and/or emergency medical personnel.
• Types various forms and reports.
• Maintains log of telephone and radio calls received/transmitted.
• Maintain knowledge of standard sheriff's office practices and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned
• Supervision is received from Director of the Consolidated Communications Center, or other designated supervisor.
• No functional and administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum six (6) months related experience preferred.
• Must be able to type 30 wpm with accuracy and proficiency. Employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to type.
• Ability to acquire and maintain certification on the NCIC/CJIS criminal history information system is a condition of continued employment. Failure to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire date and successfully re-certify every two (2) years shall be grounds for termination.
• Must complete Control Terminal Agency Training mandated by the National Crime Information Center within six (6) months after date of employment within the Consolidated Communications Center.
• Must complete Iowa system certification for full access use within six (6) months after date of employment within the Consolidated Communications Center.
• Must be willing to comply with the Consolidated Communications Center residency policy: Upon acceptance of formal job offer, new employee shall have up to 6 months to live within a 30-minute response time from the Black Hawk Consolidated Communications Center located at 225 E 6th St Waterloo, IA 50703
• Ability to pass a background investigation as required by Iowa Code section 661-8.104(3) prior to employment.
• Knowledge and previous experience operating a CRT and teletype system preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in a clear, concise and distinct voice are required.
• Ability to think and respond promptly during tense and stressful situations.
• Ability to record information in a given sequence.
• Ability to read and write English accurately.
• Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality regarding all aspects of the job.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and management.
• Ability to deal effectively with associates and the general public.
• Must be proficient in computer software applications.
