Job summary

Pacific Network Solutions is seeking a Civil / Underground Tech III to join our team in Henderson, NV. The role requires operating and coordinating directional drilling, trenching, and utility placement while maintaining strict safety standards.

You will lead crew members, verify locates, and ensure day-lighting before crossing utilities. Applicants should have 2+ years in construction or telecom, OSHA 10/30, and the ability to read blueprints and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with elevated work.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Experience with ladders, bucket trucks, heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with 811 markings and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to read blueprints and safety manuals.
  • Proficient in English (speaking and writing).
  • 2+ years in construction or telecommunications.
  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools such as power brooms, earth tampers, concrete saws.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and motivate the crew to be productive.
  • Coordinate safe operation of directional drill equipment.
  • Ensure utilities are located and daylighted prior to trenching.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of directional drill shots.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and report malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
  • Lead by example, attitude reflects leadership. Lead through the understanding that the employees are the biggest asset Pacific Network Solutions has
  • Motivate individuals and Team to create a positive and highly productive work environment
  • Operational knowledge with a variety of the newest horizontal directional drills, including Vermeer and Ditch Witch
  • Trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops
  • Perform restoration back to existing conditions
  • Must be able to safely coordinate directional drill equipment in and around congested neighborhoods where pedestrians are present
  • Ensure utility locates are correct and all underground utilities are identified and located before trenching or digging
  • Constantly communicating with crew members
  • Ensure potholes are dug and utilities are daylighted prior to crossing utilities
  • Maintain accuracy in all reporting functions of directional drill shots
  • Assist with safety events and constantly lookout for changing conditions
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working order and that all systems are working correctly
  • Perform basic upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and communicate any equipment malfunctions or repair needs with the supervisor
  • Communicate with fellow team members using hand or audio signals to ensure the safe operation of Pacific Network Solutions equipment

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work performed at significant heights, requiring ability and comfort with climbing towers, lifting heavy equipment, and working in elevated positions using climbing gear and safety equipment.
  • This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs and directions, stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, climb with, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, ladders and/ or towers; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around sites, in the air, or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.
  • Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment, and other tools within local, state, and federal safety guidelines.
  • This position operates in a professional field environment. The position requires working outside, frequently for extended periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, wind and rain.
  • While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
EXPECTED POSITION HOURS
  • This is a full-time position. Overtime may be required as job duties demand, and with prior approval.
  • Must be able to work weekends, overnight, out of the market or away from home and willingness to travel overnight as work demands.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with elevated work.
  • Ability to move, lift, and hold a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on ladders, bucket trucks, and additional heavy machinery used in commercial construction.
  • Familiarity with jurisdictional requirements and 811 markings.
  • A clear understanding of DOT regulations.
  • Flexibility to work shift work, including maintenance windows and weekends if needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Local to the market.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with proficiency in English.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction and/or telecommunications.
  • Has taken OSHA 10 and/or 30 course
  • Must have knowledge of other hand and power tools of all types: power brooms, earth tampers, concrete saws, cement mixers, and various other equipment and tools
Certifications, Licenses, and other Requirements
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Valid Commercial Drivers LicenseREQUIRED with a clean driving record or minimal points as acceptable by Company's insurance.
  • Successful completion and clearance of a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and background check.
Pay Range:

$26.00 - $30.00
