Overview

Huitt-Zollars, Inc. has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Transportation/Roadway Project Engineer in our Austin-TX or Dallas-TX office. This role supports the senior transportation project manager in delivering transportation projects and leads highway and roadway design. The successful candidate will be a PE licensed in Texas with at least 8 years of transportation highway and roadway consulting experience. This is a great opportunity for an experienced PE with TxDOT knowledge to further their expertise and mentor junior engineers while working on notable projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and mentor junior staff in highway feasibility, planning studies, geometric design schematics, and final construction plans.
2. Assist in preparing project reports, feasibility studies, implementation plans, engineering summaries, and drainage impact analyses.
3. Manage production of construction cost estimates throughout project development.
4. Lead preparation of construction standard plans, notes, and specifications.
5. Coordinate roadway design, maintenance of traffic plans, drainage design, pedestrian and bike facilities, retaining walls, stormwater pollution prevention, signage, and pavement markings.
6. Coordinate online meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute notes.
7. Supervise junior staff in producing project deliverables.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed PE in Texas
• Minimum 6 years of roadway and drainage design experience
• Aiming to advance to Senior Transportation Project Manager within 3 years
• Knowledge of TxDOT standards and practices
• Proficiency in MicroStation, ProjectWise, Open Roads, and Microsoft Office
• Initiative, resourcefulness, and commitment
• Excellent communication skills
