Position: Civil Technician

Location: Champaign, IL
Salary Range: $22 - $36 per hour
What You’ll Do:
- Perform onsite construction observation and documentation for civil municipal and private projects, including potable water, sanitary and storm sewer, water resources, grading, site improvements, and roadways.
- Monitor the work completed, relative to the project schedule and budget, and provide status updates to the Project Manager and Client.
- Verify construction materials and constructed items are in conformance with project construction plans and specifications.
- Document construction activities and quantities for use in pay request generation and approval.
- Perform as-built surveys of project components utilizing GPS and Robotic Total Station.
- Review shop drawing submittals and assist in project documentation and reporting.
- Communicate and interact with supervisors, contractors, and clients.
- Work in a team environment with exposure to a wide variety of project types across Civil Engineering.
- Other duties, as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Associate’s degree in Applied Science with emphasis in civil construction or construction management, or applicable and equivalent experience.
- 3-8 years of related civil engineering project experience.
- A hardworking attitude, inquisitive nature, and the desire to understand how things work.
Nice To Haves:
- Ability to travel within the Champaign, IL area.
- Ability to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to compute basic quantities for constructed components of a project.
- Basic survey capabilities with robotic and GPS survey equipment.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or MicroStation.
- Ability to work both in the office and field for construction engineering and observation.
- Communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Internship or experience in construction.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards.
- Requires the ability to safely operate and drive company vehicles.
- May require lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, hammering, digging, and other physical activities.
- May require the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, and lift and/or move heavier loads rarely.
