Job summary

Stacy Witbeck is seeking a skilled Civil Superintendent to lead on heavy civil construction projects in Long Beach. You will manage field operations, coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials while ensuring safety, compliance, and project schedules.

This on-site leadership role requires strong communication skills and a proven track record of delivering quality work. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of supervision experience, familiarity with SSPWC Green Book and Primavera P6,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in field supervision on heavy civil projects.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience with safety protocols and scheduling guidelines.
• Ability to supervise craft performance and enforce quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations and direct daily site activities.
• Coordinate labor, subcontractors, equipment, and materials with project phases.
• Enforce OSHA safety practices and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and manage site grading and utilities.
• Maintain on-site communications between crews, engineers, and PMs.

Civil Superintendent

Compensation: $135,000 - $175,000 / year

Stacy Witbeck is seeking a skilled and dedicated heavy civil superintendent with a strong motivation for excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee crew and field operations on heavy civil construction projects. Includes managing entire projects or large scopes. timelines while ensuring safety, compliance with standards, and quality
• The primary on-site leader, directing all daily activities, ensuring a smooth workflow
• Directs labor, subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries to align with project phases and schedules
• Implements and enforces safety protocols (OSHA) and quality standards, conducting briefings and site walks to maintain compliance.
• Reads blueprints, interprets technical documents, and manages site grading, utility installations, and overall construction methods on large complex civil projects.
• Acts as the key liaison between field crews, field engineers, and project managers, providing progress updates and addressing concerns.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in a field supervision role
• Comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines, including union regulations, safety protocols, and scheduling
• Proven ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance effectively, fostering a culture of excellence
• A robust work ethic, exhibiting commitment to completing tasks accurately and efficiently
• Feels confident to make real-time decisions to resolve issues and challenges that arise from changing site conditions or unexpected hurdles
• Valid Driver’s License required

Preferences:

• 10+ years of experience in the self-perform construction industry
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of
• Background from operator engineers preferred. Experience with underground shoring systems including speed shore and box shoring
• Experience working with City and County stakeholders in Los Angeles preferred
• Experience working on projects based on SSPWC Green Book preferred
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration
• Preference for those who enjoy a collaborative, team-driven work style
• Experience with a wide variety of software and platforms are not required but may help your candidacy which may include the following: Cloud-based collaborative software, Teams, Smartsheet, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, P6, Primavera Cloud, ProCore, etc..
