Civil / Structural Forensic Engineer (Contract)

Contract position located in South Carolina.

Prema Consulting Group LLC (PCG) headquartered in Tampa, Florida provides accurate, unbiased, and evidence‑based expert opinion with an industry-leading turnaround time to assist its clients in resolving property damage insurance claims and litigation matters.

Position Summary

This part‑time contract role requires the Civil / Structural Forensic Engineer to perform property damage assessments for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. Responsibilities include conducting site visits, documenting existing conditions, interviewing stakeholders, capturing findings, and developing preliminary conclusions for engineering reports that align with company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform various physical tasks during site studies, including climbing stairs, walking on building roofs, and accessing confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
  • Follow safe work practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Develop strong interpersonal relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain a courteous and respectful demeanor while addressing others’ needs.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including internal/external clients and contractors.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute project‑related items to project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project status, schedules, budgets, and contractors when necessary.
  • Produce quality deliverables and complete assignments promptly per company standards.
  • Report and escalate project issues to management and help resolve them when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the advertised state, with potential for additional state licenses.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to complete site studies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, cloud‑based software, and/or project management tools.
  • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Dependable and reliable, especially under urgent conditions.
  • Completion of tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • NCEES Record or willingness to obtain within 3 months is preferred.
