Job summary

Wells is seeking an engineering intern to join the Engineering Development Program in Minnesota. You will gain hands-on experience across quality control, field services, and structural design while rotating through multiple areas in precast manufacturing.

The role offers exposure to concrete testing, field operations, and collaboration with professional engineers and field leaders. Compensation is $25/hr, based on location and experience.

Qualifications

• Engineering student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Interested in precast concrete, structural design, and construction operations.
• Ability to learn technical systems and field processes quickly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Shadow Quality Control technicians and support plant inspection activities.
• Perform and assist with concrete testing in laboratory environments.
• Learn and use Concrete Vision (CV) or similar production tracking systems.
• Conduct pre-pour inspections including formwork checks and readiness verification.
• Gain exposure to mix designs, finishes, NCRs, and quality metrics.
• Pour and evaluate concrete samples for testing and documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives using NCR data.
• Shadow field supervisors and assist with layout and jobsite coordination.
• Coordinate with dispatch on scheduling, sequencing, and logistics planning.
• Follow safety procedures including bracing plans and job-specific requirements.
• Work with design engineers on precast product design including beams, double tees, and wall panels.
