Job description

Job Description

Osmose is currently seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer Steel III to execute and oversee the technical aspects of steel structure repair projects. This role is responsible for the design development, submittal preparation, customer approval, and material procurement phases on all assigned projects, ensuring field activities conform to project specifications.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform and oversee design development of assigned steel structure repair projects, including familiarity with the entire “inspection/engineering/repair” workflow; coordinate all design, modeling, and drafting activities utilizing in-house and subcontract engineers and drafters.
  2. Develop and document structural calculations for steel structure repair in conformance to applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements; work with fabricators and vendors to utilize the most cost-effective materials and processes.
  3. Collaborate with Business Development and Product Managers to develop new products, pursue project opportunities, support pilot projects, and participate in R&D activities through field support, testing, data compilation, and report writing.
  4. Coordinate with the engineering team on design approaches, methodologies, and reviews.
  5. Work with field personnel on new repair methodologies and techniques, ensuring conformance with project and customer requirements.
  6. Assist the Manager of Engineering in developing drawing standards and specifications for steel structure repair projects.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis) from an accredited program.
  2. 5 to 6 years of experience in structural design and analysis.
  3. Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration is required or to be obtained within 6 months of starting.
  4. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) structural programs such as Abaqus, Ansys, PLS-CADD, RISA 3D, tnxTower, etc., is a plus.
  5. Proficiency with AutoCAD software, both 2D and 3D.
  6. Knowledge of AISC, ACI, and ASCE standards.
  7. Experience designing power utility and/or communication utility structures is advantageous.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with customers and produce proper technical documentation.
  9. Willingness to travel overnight and work in varied hours and conditions, including harsh weather.
Physical Demands

The physical requirements include talking, hearing, standing, walking, climbing stairs, sitting, and using hands for handling objects. Vision abilities include close, distance, and focus adjustment. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Travel

Willingness to travel overnight and work varied hours in different weather conditions.
