Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Specialist II in Knoxville, TN to join our team.

You will work with engineers to deliver projects of varying complexity for hydro power clients, providing design support for foundations, supports, and building systems, while applying multiple codes and standards. Applicants should have a BS in Civil Engineering, 6+ years of experience, and be eligible for a PE within 2 years; Structural PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited college/university.
• 6+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
• PE or ability to obtain within 2 years; Structural PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete discipline engineering designs and supporting documents (design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications).
• Assist in defining project objectives, prep design estimates, and establish project requirements and approaches.
• Responsible for scoping, estimating, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects with complex requirements.
• Perform technical and coordination checks of deliverables to ensure compliance with procedures and design requirements.
• Prepare/check calculations using engineering formulas and/or software such as STAAD, Risa, Enercalc; and use MathCAD and Excel.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360/341, ACI 318).
• Willingness to travel regularly (day trips; some overnights).
• Assist in resolving construction issues and support design staff.
