Job Description

We are seeking a Civil Structural Engineer-In-Training (EI) to support our team of professionals across the US. Responsibilities include forensic investigations, consultations, preparing technical papers, and serving as an expert witness. Focus areas include damage or failure assessments of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings’ structural and envelope systems such as roofing, claddings, and fenestrations. Travel to project sites for inspections is required. Active involvement in professional associations is encouraged and supported.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct field observations and data collection.
• Prepare reports detailing observations and results.
• Work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• State EI-certification.
• Preparation to take the P.E. exam within 1-3 years.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Residence in the Chicago, Illinois area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to perform minor structural design.
• Familiarity with building envelope and roofing systems.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to travel and conduct field investigations.
• Ability to work at heights and in various environments.
• Ability to work on roofs, scaffolds, lifts, and in enclosed spaces with protective gear.
• Climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
