Job summary

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil/Structural Engineer to its Diamond Bar, CA team. The role involves civil infrastructure design, permitting support for municipal and private clients across the US, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The position is part-time/as needed with an hourly pay range. Ideal candidates hold CA Civil and Structural Engineering licenses, have 20+ years of experience, and are proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• CA Professional Civil Engineering License and Structural Engineering License required.
• Over 20 years of experience in civil/structural engineering or related field.
• Proficient with MS Office and typical engineering software.
• Ability to work in a team with local and remote members.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with grading plans and herotechnical detailing is a plus.
• Experience in an engineering consulting firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site layout, grading plans, cost estimates, and specs.
• Attend design meetings with clients via video and in-person.
• Provide field construction support and perform site inspections as needed.
• Create and manage 3D surfaces to produce design drawings.
• Develop design drawings for heavy civil infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Conduct surface water hydrology and hydraulic studies.
• Prepare and manage structural engineering projects.
• Lead multidiscipline infrastructure teams on site development.

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil/Structural Engineer to our team based in Diamond Bar, CA. We perform civil infrastructure design and permitting support for a combination of municipal governments and private companies throughout the US. Our team is growing at a steady pace and needs a civil/structural engineer in our Diamond Bar office to continue to support future and ongoing contracts. Our office consists of several technical disciplines that provide services within the environmental, geotechnical, mechanical, civil, construction, and field services. The pay scale for this position is $95.00-$112.00 an hour, based on qualifications and experience. This is a part-time/as needed role.

Your Role

• Prepare site layout plans, grading plans, engineering cost estimates, and technical specifications.
• Attend design meetings and meet with clients during the design process through video conferencing and in-person meetings.
• Perform field construction support tasks by responding in a timely manner to construction field requests and performing occasional field inspections.
• Create and manage 3D surfaces to produce design drawings and volume calculations.
• Work on design teams to create design drawings for heavy civil infrastructure including mass and detailed grading, drainage, roads, tanks, pipelines, concrete structures using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Perform surface water hydrology and hydraulic studies.
• Prepare and manage structural engineering projects.
• Manage multidiscipline infrastructure teams to perform site development projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) and/or master’s degree (M.S.) in Civil Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline.
• CA Professional Civil Engineering License and Structural Engineering License.
• Over 20 years of experience.
• Computer knowledge in MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work in a team environment with local and remote team members.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Experience in an engineering consulting firm or experience with preparing grading plans and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D is considered an asset.
