Job summary

Audubon is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer II, Senior to join our Houston, TX office. The role designs civil/structural equipment, components, structures or systems and prepares detailed drawings and documentation.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience, strong CAD/CAM skills (AutoCAD, CADWorx, PDMS) and familiarity with offshore/onshore hydrocarbon industries. Office-based position with team collaboration and field support as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree from a Technical Institution preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of experience preferred
• AutoCAD software experience required
• CADWorx software experience required
• PDMS software experience preferred
• Microsoft Office software experience preferred
• Field experience preferred
• Experience in offshore oil & gas, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing or refining industry required
• Small/Medium project lead experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete design packages that may include preliminary, conceptual, and construction deliverables as well as engineering calculations.
• Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts, designs and working drawings including projections, sectional views and standard specifications.
• Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
• Perform basic calculations and trigonometry functions to complete work assignments.
• Prepare parts lists, procurement lists, BOMs and specifications when drawings are complete; revise as engineering changes occur.
• Implement revisions and change control per company standards.
• Assemble information and reference drawings from various sources.
• Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
• Determine and initiate drawings/models based on optimal views for communicating construction desires.
• Assist with field surveys, document existing conditions, and recommend design solutions.
• Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
• Review and assist in preparation of O&M manuals.
• Design components or portions of systems, modify existing designs to develop or improve them.
• Use 2D or 3D CAD software to create layouts of civil/structural systems and create fabrication/assembly drawings.
• Create documentation for Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
• Utilize sketches, specifications and documents in designing, detailing, documenting, and verifying civil/structural parts and systems.
• Identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials for construction.
• Analyze impact of proposed changes for fit and interference, propose solutions.
• Produce drawings and deliverables per company standards within schedule and budget.
• Maintain proper file management per standards.
• Interact with clients, subcontractors, vendors and consultants.
• Perform field data gathering as requested by supervisor.
• Track and maintain schedule and budget for projects.
• Comply with HSSE standards and regulations.

Audubon is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Designer II, Senior to join our team in our Houston, TX Office. The Civil/Structural Designer, Senior will perform assignments associated with designing civil/structural equipment, components, structures or systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare complete design packages that may include, but not be limited to, preliminary, conceptual, and construction deliverables as well as engineering calculations.
• Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts, designs and working drawings including necessary projections, sectional views and standard specifications.
• Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
• Perform basic calculations and trigonometry functions associated with area, volume, slope (rise & run), etc. using charts and tables, as required, to complete work assignments.
• Prepare parts lists, procurement lists, bill of materials (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete. Revises parts, drawings and BOMs consistent with engineering changes.
• Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of senior level designers and engineers.
• Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources
• Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
• Determine and initiate drawings/models based on optimal views relative to communicating construction desires as applicable.
• Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions.
• Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
• Review and assist in preparation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
• Design components or portions of systems, and modify existing designs to develop or improve them.
• Utilize 2D or 3D computer aided design software to create layouts of civil/structural systems, devices and components, and create fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Create documentation required to process Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
• Utilize engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents in the designing, detailing, documenting, and verifying of civil/structural parts, subassemblies, assemblies or system configurations.
• Identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials necessary for optimal construction.
• Analyze the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems and recommend possible solutions or alternate construction options.
• Produce drawings and deliverables utilizing company standards within project-approved schedule and budget.
• Maintain proper file management in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
• Perform field data gathering when requested by supervisor or manager.
• Track and maintain a continued awareness of overall schedule and budget for assigned projects.
• Comply with all company and client health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) standards as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
• Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents to your supervisor.
