Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create structural engineering plans, details, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
- Design concrete or steel foundations for project equipment, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements at local, state, and federal levels, considering various geotechnical parameters and soil types, under the guidance of senior staff.
- Perform design tasks on small projects or parts of larger projects.
- Gain knowledge of renewable energy system layouts and components such as modules, racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
- Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to assigned tasks within broader projects.
- Ensure adherence to company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
- Work under close supervision on all aspects of assignments.
- Receive thorough reviews of completed work to ensure sound professional judgment.
- Meet deliverables and deadlines as essential duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering required.
- EIT Certificate preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret site studies and geotechnical reports.
- At least 6 months of experience (including academic and internship) in structural or civil design and drafting is preferred.
- Knowledge of structural engineering software tools is desirable.
- Renewable energy project experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative and analytical thinking abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Efficient time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects with minimal supervision, prioritizing, organizing, and meeting deadlines.
