Job summary

HukariAscendent seeks an experienced Civil-Structural Analyst to perform advanced structural analyses and validate design adequacy for normal operations and accident loading conditions. Expertise in seismic soil-structure interaction, dynamic seismic analysis, and evaluation under tornado winds, missile penetration, and blast events is required.

Role requires field walk-downs, travel to vendor sites, and familiarity with DOE site processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SASSI, or DYNA3D.
  • Strong knowledge of national codes and standards including IBC, AISC, ASCE and ACI 318/349.
  • Ability to perform advanced analyses including Seismic SSI, dynamic seismic, and evaluation under tornado, missile, precipitation, and blast loads.
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs of structural systems.

Job description

A Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.

Short Summary about Job:

Seeking an experienced Civil-Structural Analyst to perform advanced structural analyses of various structures, validating their design adequacy for normal operations and accident loading conditions. The position requires expertise in seismic soil-structure interaction, dynamic seismic analysis, and evaluation of structural responses to a range of loading conditions including tornado winds, missile penetration, precipitation, and explosive events. Engineering services will be performed in accordance with established DOE site processes and procedures. Travel to vendor, fabricator, and other engineering organization sites may be required.

Required Qualifications
Education:
  • M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; or
  • B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with current registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities. (Required)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SASSI, DYNA3D, or similar codes. (Required)
  • Sound working knowledge of national codes and standards including IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, and N690), ASCE, and ACI (318 and 349). (Required)
  • Ability to perform advanced structural analyses including: Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI); dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history); development of in-structure seismic response spectra; and evaluation of structural responses for tornado winds, missile penetration, precipitation (rain, flood, snow), and explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration). (Required)
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs of structural systems. (Required)
  • Ability to travel off-site to interface with vendors, fabricators, and other engineering organizations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in DOE nuclear facility environments.
  • Familiarity with DOE site processes and procedures for engineering services delivery.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with seismic qualification of safety-related structures in nuclear applications.
