Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil (Solid Waste) Intern to gain real-world experience on projects spanning landfills, recycling facilities, remediation sites, and waste transfer stations. You will work under a senior engineer, assisting in groundwater sampling, data analysis, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques to solid waste facilities and environmental projects.
  • Assist in groundwater sampling programs with coordination and reporting.
  • Support site layouts, grading plans, utility layouts, cost estimating and drainage reviews.
  • Engage with mentoring programs and connect with young professionals.

In the role of a Civil (Solid Waste) Intern, we'll count on you
  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures to solid waste facilities and environmental projects such as landfills, recycling facilities, remediation sites, and waste transfer stations
  • Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer to assist in groundwater sampling program including coordination with laboratories, data analysis and reporting on behalf of private and public clients for regulatory agency compliance
  • Perform other duties as needed such as performing overall site layouts, grading plans, utility layout, cost estimating and drainage reviews. Perform administrative duties to support project managers and our clients.
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
  • May require occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Prior experience with field work and environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation is a plus
  • Preference given to local candidates
