Job summary

New Terrain Grading in Anderson, SC is hiring Skilled Site Work Laborers to support our Civil Division grading team. Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, be able to perform demanding field tasks, and comply with safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be able to physically perform demanding site labor including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • OSHA 10 is preferred, but training can be provided.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Understand risks and safety hazards.
  • Understand safety manual and OSHA requirements.
  • General understanding of civil drawings, phases of work, specifications, and CEPSI Reports.
  • General understanding of erosion and storm water control and best general practices.
  • Participate in daily job safety hazard meetings and identify safety hazards.
  • Assist with daily preventative maintenance checklists.
  • Assist with cleaning trash and dirt from equipment daily inside cab and on exterior including tracks.
  • Operate Level One Equipment safely with oversight (skid steers, compaction equipment, mini excavators).
  • Perform tasks involving strenuous manual labor to support grading operations (shoveling, raking, cutting, mudding drainage boxes, driving stakes).
  • Maintain a clean job site, pick up tools and secure site daily.
  • Material handling and storage.
  • Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting; report problems to Supervisor/Management.
  • Assist Equipment Operators with routine maintenance (clean and grease).
  • Competent person Training on Trenching, Rigging, and equipment to be operated.
  • Read equipment manuals and complete supervisor assessments.

Skilled Site Work Laborers are important support for our Civil Division grading team. Successful candidates must have a strong work ethic and be able to work in the elements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand risks and safety hazards.
  • Understands safety manual and OSHA requirements.
  • General understating of civil drawings, phases of work, specifications, and CEPSI Reports.
  • General understanding of erosion and storm water control and best general practices
  • Participate in daily job safety hazard meetings and constantly identify and prevent safety hazards.
  • Assists with performing daily preventative maintenance checklists.
  • Assist with cleaning trash and dirt from equipment daily inside cab and on exterior including tracks.
  • Can operate Level One Equipment safely with oversite such as skid steers, compaction equipment and mini excavators.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor to support grading operations in the field. Tasks include but are not limited to: shoveling, raking, cutting, mudding storm water drainage boxes, driving stakes using sledge hammer and sweeping.
  • Maintain a clean job site, pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day.
  • Material handling and storage.
  • Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Report problems to Supervisor, Superintendent or Management.
  • Assist Equipment Operators in performing routine maintenance on equipment (clean and grease)
  • Competent person Training on Trenching, Rigging, and equipment to be operated
  • Read entire equipment manual on equipment to operate and assessment conducted by supervisor
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be able to withstand the physical requirements of the job (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., etc.)
  • OSHA 10 Preferred, but Not Required. We are willing to provide training if needed.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
